Invest in a woman. Transform a generation.

Across Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, women are facing an escalating crisis: a severe job drought, compounded by systemic barriers and deep inequality. Driven by necessity, they must find their own way to provide for their families, despite the odds being stacked against them.

A crisis of opportunity

The challenges faced by women across Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa are rooted in systemic barriers:

  • Crippling unemployment: In South Africa alone, the national unemployment rate is high at 33%, but it is significantly worse for women, standing at nearly 36%.
  • The legacy of inequality: The devastating effects of traditional gender norms and historical injustice, including the legacy of apartheid, create economic disparities that lock generations of women out of formal opportunities.
  • The gender wage gap: On average, women earn 38% less than men in similar roles.

Investing in potential

A lack of funding and financial resources are key obstacles preventing women from launching and maintaining successful businesses.

MicroLoan Foundation addresses this across Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. We work with women who have low levels of formal education, removing barriers to them creating sustainable livelihoods by providing:

  1. Access to finance: Small loans to launch and grow their businesses.
  2. Financial training: Essential financial literacy and business skills training.
  3. Support: Mentorship and group networks to ensure long-term sustainability.

Your donation is the catalyst, enabling women to gain support, stability and security, and helping their children reach their full potential.

Our impact

The proof that empowerment works

When women gain financial control, the impact on their children is immediate and measurable:

  • Food security: Our clients achieve nearly universal success in this area, with 97% of clients now report food security for their families.
  • Healthcare: In Southern Africa, 1 in 4 children is stunted due to chronic undernutrition. Mothers who save or join microfinance groups are significantly less likely to have malnourished children.
  • Education: When women are earning, they prioritise the next generation. 66% of MicroLoan clients report increased spending on their children’s education, leading to higher school attendance and overall better outcomes.

The solution is clear: Invest in a mother, transform the child’s future.

Your gift can uplift a generation

Your generosity is powerful.

Last year, you helped thousands of women survive a devastating drought. This year, you can help write the next chapter. Your support means more women will turn struggle into strength, and more children will walk into classrooms instead of worrying about their next meal.

Help us tackle these systemic inequalities by giving even more women the opportunity to build their own businesses from the ground up.

$20 provides a woman’s first financial literacy and training session.

$120 gives a woman a startup loan to launch her small business.

$200 supports one woman with loans and training for a full year.

$700 delivers business training to a centre of 50 women.

$7,000 funds a Loan & Training Officer to support 300 women for an entire year.

Please, donate today and invest in a woman’s ability to work her way out of poverty. The impact of your gift will continue for generations to come, securing a child’s health, education, and potential.
